APALA Applauds Linda Chavez-Thompson
For Her Service and Dedication to Labor Movement

The Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA) would like to thank Linda Chavez-Thompson for her service to the AFL-CIO and the broader labor movement.  Her tireless dedication to working families serves as a source of inspiration for many. As the first person of color elected to the federation’s highest positions, Ms. Chavez-Thompson is a modern day trailblazer. “Linda Chavez-Thompson is a friend of APALA and will be missed,” stated Maria Somma, President of APALA.

APALA would also like to take the opportunity to congratulate Arlene Holt Baker for being nominated to serve the remainder of Ms. Chavez-Thompson’s term. “Arlene has the experience and passion to excel in this position,” stated Gloria T. Caoile, Executive Director of APALA. Ms. Holt Baker has over 30 years experience as a union organizer and community leader. APALA looks forward to working with Ms. Holt Baker.

APALA, AFL-CIO, is the first and only national organization of Asian Pacific American union members.
