Organizing
One of the significant contributions that APALA
has provided to the mainstream labor movement
as well as the Asian Pacific American community
is helping to train the next generation of
Asian Pacific American (APA) organizers.
When APALA was founded n 1992, there were only
a handful of APA organizers. Working with
the Organizing Institute of the AFL-CIO, APALA
co-sponsored a series of APALA OI three day
Organizing Training Programs. This has
successfully multiplied the number of APA
organizers, increased the number of
multilingual organizers, and facilitated the
ability for effective community
outreach.
