APALA
Alameda members at the Immigrant Rights Rally
in Oakland, California to oppose the repressive
anti-immigrant legislation.
The Alameda APALA chapter worked with Filipinos for Affirmative Action (FAA) campaign to increase Filipino participation in elections with a voter education and “Get Out the Vote” phone-banking program. They focused on four counties of the greater San Francisco Bay Area: Alameda, Contra Costa, Solano and San Mateo, where altogether nearly 250,000 Filipinos reside there. FAA is an organization in the East bay that offers many youth programs and services to new immigrants, and engages in community campaigns.
