FREE RIDES TO THE POLLS


(Rochester, NY) - On Election Day, Tuesday November 4, the Rochester
Chapter of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists and Metro Justice will
sponsor their "Get Out The Vote" campaign with the objective of making sure
every voter who wants to vote can get to their polling place. The coalition
collaborative will provide FREE rides to and from the polls for registered
voters who may need transportation.  As an added service, we will now have
a wheel chair van to accommodate our citizens with disabilities.  The wheel
chair van will only be available from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Voters requesting the service will be picked up at their homes and driven
to their polling places. Van drivers will wait until riders have finished
voting and then return them to their homes. For liability reasons, we are
not able to transport any children under the age of seven.  Also, drivers
will not be able to supervise children while citizens go in to vote, so
please make alternate arrangements for children during the voting process.
Any registered voters who wish to take advantage of transportation to the
polls should call the CTBU office at 328-2250 or 436-6995 or Metro Justice
at 328-2560 to make arrangements. The FREE rides to the polls will be
available to registered voters between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Election Day. 

We would like to remind everyone that not to display anything containing a
political party or candidate's name within 100 feet of the polling site.
Examples: name badges, buttons, name on a label attached to food, bumper
stickers, memorabilia (pen/pencils, rulers, etc.), advertisements
(newspapers, TV) and clothing.
