Hosts 2007 Labor Day Parade

(Rochester, NY) – Beginning at 11:00am on Monday, September 3, 2007, Rochester Labor Council, AFL-CIO will host Rochester’s annual Labor Day Parade.

Featuring 100 units, more than 3,000 working families, 10 bands, floats, cars and more, the parade will once again wind from the intersection of East Avenue and Alexander Street, down East Avenue until the parade route turns west on Main Street, and concludes at the intersection of Main Street & South Plymouth Avenue.

Grande Marshals: Tony Bernardo (United Auto Workers Local 1097, retired), Dan Conte (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 86, retired), and Joe Montesano (International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1071, retired) will lead the parade.

The following have been invited to lead the parade as additional Grande Marshals:

State Sentator & NYS Senate Labor Chair, George Maziarz
State Assemblywoman & NYS Assembly Labor Chair, Susan John
Monroe County Executive, Maggie Brooks
Rochester City Mayor, Robert Duffy

The Rochester Labor Day Parade will focus on its theme “Commitment to Community” with a focus on Secure, High Quality Health Care for All, while highlighting area workers in this struggle. Information will be provided in the days leading up to the parade.
