WROC/WUHF Union Workers Approve Contract with Nexstar Broadcasting

In a vote held on Friday, May 29, workers from the National Association of Broadcast Employees & Technicians-CWA (NABET-CWA) Local 22 at WROC Television approved a contract between the local and Nexstar Broadcasting, WROC-TV's parent company.

The agreement will be effective through the end of December 2008.  Benefits for workers include a wage increase retroactive to the start of the year, increased bereavement time for workers and agreements between the company and workers on dues check-off, vacation relief workers and health care.

Local 22 President Bob Pastecki said it was a close vote after eight months of negotiating.

NABET-CWA Local 22 represents workers at WROC-TV channel 8, WUHF-TV channel 31 and WHEC-TV channel 10.  WUHF is owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group of Maryland and operated by Nexstar Broadcasting of Texas, parent company of WROC.  Nexstar operates WUHF through a shared services agreement and all NABET employees at WROC/WUHF are employed by Nexstar.  Nationally, NABET is affiliated with the Communications Workers of America.
