Workers Approve Contract with Nexstar
Broadcasting
In a vote held on
Friday, May 29, workers from the National
Association of Broadcast Employees
& Technicians-CWA (NABET-CWA) Local 22 at
WROC Television approved a
contract between the local and Nexstar
Broadcasting, WROC-TV's parent company.
The agreement will be effective through
the end of December 2008.
Benefits for workers include a wage increase
retroactive to the start of the
year, increased bereavement time for workers
and agreements between the company
and workers on dues check-off, vacation relief
workers and health care.
Local 22 President Bob Pastecki said it
was a close vote after eight
months of negotiating.
NABET-CWA Local
22 represents workers at WROC-TV
channel 8, WUHF-TV channel 31 and WHEC-TV
channel 10. WUHF is owned by Sinclair
Broadcast Group of Maryland and operated by
Nexstar Broadcasting of Texas,
parent company of WROC. Nexstar operates
WUHF through a shared services
agreement and all NABET employees at WROC/WUHF
are employed by Nexstar.
Nationally, NABET is affiliated with the
Communications Workers of America.
